Day pack
A pack is essential for carrying your gear, clothes, food and water. Choose a size based on the length of your treks. 35L or smaller works for day trips.

Bug spray
Bug spray is essential especially in warm weather. You'll need it for being on both lakes and trails.

Water bladder
Bringing water is a must! A water bladder fits into your pack making it easy to drink. It takes up less room than bottles.

Battery bank
A mini power bank is important to keep your phone charged so you can navigate and make calls in case of emergencies.

Bear Spray
Always bring bear spray on any mountain trail. Tip: you can't fly with bear spray but you can find it for free at most hotels as tourist often leave it behind!

Rain poncho
Emergency rain ponchos are super lightweight and total life savers if a sudden storm hits.

Multi tool
A multi tool or knife is helpful in emergencies. Sometimes you just need to cut something and need a blade.

Wilderness wipes
These all-purpose wipes are handy for all kinds of messes from food spills to cuts to bathroom breaks.

Hiking boots
Waterproof boots are a must for proper ankle support, traction and protection. Trails can be uneven and wet. Chuck Taylors won't cut it!

First aid kit
A first aid kit is essential and hopefully you won't need it. It's important to get a kit that includes ice packs.

Light source
Even if you hike during the day, you need to take a light source in case you get lost. It's better than draining your phone battery.

Hiking poles
Hiking poles make uphill climbs and rocky terrain easier to navigate.
